FattiVeggi:Delcie's durian cake

Delcie's Desserts & Cakes

Website: http://www.delciesdesserts.com/ (read more here on how their cakes truly cares for you)

First time ordering a cake from delcie. I know its definitely different from normal cakes but i was still somewhat disappointed. Given the price i'm paying for the wholesome ingredients -> $48 for a 5" cake, i was expecting at least some fresh durian mousse which wasnt present at all.

nonetheless, taste wise was normal, quite similar to the american carrot cake texture and the cream was definitely very light and fresh.

I'm not sure if i'm gonna give Delcie a try again.. hmm, maybe their signature choco fudge cake or brownie can make me change my impression?

Till then, i'll need to 'collate' more cash before i can try their cakes again. =S

FattiVeggi: Taiwan - Yilan & Taipei

So here it goes...

Yilan - Luodong Night market

Sweet potato balls

a vegetarian stall

fried mushrooms
for breakfast, there are many 早餐店 to choose from and i'm sure all will have some vege options. I was there for two mornings and was pleasantly surprised when the ladyboss asked me to wait a little longer for my food as they are cleaning their toaster for my 'clean vege toast'. Super touched!

FattiVeggi: North South East West Vegetarian Cuisine

Now now, let me correct your misconceptions about vegetarian food. They don't consist of grass, trees and flowers.

Speaking on the controversal topic of mock meat, these 'meat' are usually made of wheat gluten, tofu, soy, mushroom stems and fungus. They are sources of essential amino acids and protein. I would say they are nice additions to the variety of vege food, but not a main source of nutrition for vegetarians. But, the 2 things to be cautious of is the choice of 'natural flavourings VS artificial flavourings' and the preparation method of mock meat. it's all about making informed choices.

Anyway enough said, here's my first post of FattiVeggi food:

North South East West Vegetarian Cuisine

Location: 200 Tanjong Katong Road

Spicy Soup Rice Set

Crispy 'Chicken' Rice

Rojak

Herbal Soup Noodle

Speaking for the voiceless

Singapore Animal Welfare Symposium and Public Forum on Animal Welfare Policies 2012

It was a very enriching session on animal welfare policies, knowing about the current concerns, and how the government, NGOs and public can cooperate to help our fellow friends.

To know more: http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/Singapore/Story/A1Story20120225-330208.html

However, I'm appalled by the whopping figures of shark depletion, cats culling and illegal wildlife trade. Other than the NGOs helping to alleviate the situation, WE, as the general public can do our part too: Learn!

Very meaningful song. Enjoy~

"I think I heard them telling me that they love me
they would care for me forever so it seems
But what's the use of voices with no freedom
And what's the use of living others' dreams. "

Food for Thought: The stubborn Black Dot

Imagine you just had a conversation with a person which lasted 120mins.
119 mins 30 seconds were praises of you.
the remaining 30sec was about something bad about u.

do you only remember the bad comment after u've ended the conversation?
*
*
*
did you forget about the 119mins and 30secs of praises?
*
*
*
Why do we always focus on the black dot on a piece of white paper when it can be simply erased with a correction tape?

Tea: Arteastiq @ Mandarin Gallery

Back again in Arteastiq, to try sth different - Hot Pear tea.

everything was perfect except for the red dot u see in the photo. it was a piece of chocolate mochi - probably kept under the aircon for a long time. imagine the texture =/

and btw, the teas dont come fast, and they dont come cheap. go only if you're gg with a bunch of chatty friends to keep you occupied while waiting for the tea, or spend the whole afternoon savouring your pot of tea with a good book in hand.

Do check out their interesting gelato flavours too~ just to name a few: ginger spice tea, mint lemongrass, yuzu...

Food for Thought: if I were a chick.....
